CAS VALK IN SARDINIA GP ONE STEP AWAY FROM THE PODIUM IN HIS DEBUT IN THE EMX250 CLASS.

Good performance by Cas Valk, in Riola Sardo, at his debut in EMX250. Two top-10s for Alexis Fueri. Lynn Valk showed great potential in WMX. In the MX2 class, Tom Guyon was forced to give forfeit due to the consequences of the crash at the Argentine GP.

Riola Sardo (OR), March 26th 2023

The MX paddock returned in Europe, in Riola Sardo, for the first GP scheduled in Europe. The Sardian circuit, also known as The Sandy Hell, was the theatre for the debut in the Fantic Racing MX Team colors for Lynn Valk, vice WMX world champion, in 2022. After the victory in the EMX125 last year, her brother Cas with his teammate Alexis Fueri moved up to EMX250.

Impressive beginning of the weekend for the Fantic Racing MX team: in the EMX250 class, Cas Valk, with a fantastic ride, put his Fantic XX 250 in pole position. However, there were some problems for his teammate Alexis Fueri, who was uncomfortable on the Riola Sardo track, as evidenced by his 17th time in qualifying.

In the race, Cas started in the middle of the grid: an unusual but profitable position, given the hole shot made by the young Dutchman, who maintained the race's lead for the first laps before leaving it to Bonaccorsi. After that, however, the nr 172 of the Fantic Racing MX team showed that he could keep up with the leader's pace, and with a very high-level race, he finished in second place.

Alexis Fueri, after a super start that projected him into the small group of the best, improved lap after lap and finished in eighth place.s

In race 2, as the gate came down, Cas lost some positions. It took Valk a lap to recover, but he was brilliant in finding the right lines to make some great overtakes, taking the top half of the race while keeping an incredible pace. In the end, his race2 ended with fifth place.

Fueri was great at the start going immediately to occupy the fifth position. After the good start, however, the Frenchman did not keep the very high pace of the front runners and was relegated to ninth place overall.

Cas Valk came close to the podium in the day's standings by finishing tied on points with compatriot Karssemakers, who got third. His teammate Alexis Fueri arrived in the seventh position overall.

In the WMX world championship, Lynn Valk reaffirmed her qualities with the third-best time in qualifying.

In addition to her opponents, however, she has to consider bad luck: in race1, the Dutch girl started very strong but was involved in a group crash, from which she came out at the back of the group. With her head down, the nr 172 (just like her brother Cas) resumed her race but caught up in the heat. Two more slips complicated her comeback attempt, and for her, in the end, came a ninth place.

The race2 was a balance between nerves and wrist, trying to stay out of trouble, and as a result, Lynn found herself fourth. But she rode contracted, making some mistakes that forced her to finish in fifth place. At the end of the weekend, a sixth overall position came for Lynn Valk.

In the MX2 world championship, Tom Guyon returned from a painful bump in qualifying at the Argentine GP, and his condition was still not 100%. However, the French rider tried to get on his Fantic XXF 250 but realized he could not get a good result at the end of practice. So, together with team manager Marco Maddii, he decided not to participate in the race to recover as best as possible for the next world meeting, scheduled in two weeks in Switzerland.

Marco Maddii: "Very positive debut for Cas in the European 250. He surprised me a lot. He missed the podium by a whisker, but he is tied on points with third, and we can be confident as a first race in a new class. Alexis brought home two top-ten finishes on a tough track to him. On the other hand, Lynn paid the pressure she had, making too many mistakes, but we all saw her potential. I feel sorry for Tom. He still has shoulder pain. We will be on track in the next races."
