Elias Escandell is a whisker away from the podium in the GP of Switzerland of motocross.

Frauenfeld (SVI) April 10th, 2023.

In EMX125, Escandell was 1 point off the podium, and Werner finished in the top 10. In WMX, Lynn Valk was close to the top 5. After another crash on the same injured shoulder, Tom Guyon was forced to forfeit again.

The Swiss GP, the third MXGP race of the year, saw the season opener of the European 125. The Schollenholz track was new for almost all riders. Moreover, the hard surface with deep channels formed during the race made the circuit even more technical and complicated.

EMX125

In EMX125, Max Werner and Elias Escandell made their European debut in Fantic Racing MX colours, riding Fantic XX 125.

In race 1, Werner, after an excellent start from fourth position, reached the third place but finished seventh due to a mistake with two laps to go.

Completely opposite was the race of Escandell, who was closed by other riders at the start and fell to the rear from fifth. However, lap after lap, he could find the right pace to recover and finish fifth.

In race 2, Escandell maintained a steady pace throughout, finishing in fourth place. For him, at the end of his first GP of the season, a fourth place overall, by just 1 point from Reisulis, third and winner of race1.

More complicated was Werner's race: he ended in 13th place due to a few mistakes. For him, the Swiss weekend ends in ninth place overall.

MX2

Bitter Easter weekend for Tom Guyon, although it was not entirely a surprise. The Frenchman has not fully recovered from his shoulder injury in qualifying at the opening GP in Argentina, which forced him not to race the next one in Sardinia. Yet during practice, the nr 27 of Marco Maddii's Fantic Racing MX team proved to be fast, but, as it is well known, you always fall on the already ailing part. As happened to Tom on the first lap of qualifying in Switzerland. Knocked out again by the usual injured shoulder, the French rider, in agreement with the team, decided not to ride the two Easter Monday races to try to recover ahead of the GP of Trentino next week.

WMX

A solid performance on the tricky Swiss ground for Lynn Valk in the women's world championship. She closed the qualifying in seventh position. Then, in race 1, despite a flu illness, she gave her best, even improving her starting position and finishing sixth.

In race 2, the Dutch rider gritted her teeth again, showing the right speed, riding her Fantic XXF 250 to fight with the best. Lynn finished sixth again, in the same position in the final standings.

Marco Maddii (Fantic Racing MX team manager): "Pretty difficult weekend for our team. We were hoping for better results, but let's look at the positive things: we came home with good placings. We are one point from the podium in 125, and also, in the women's world championship, we are with the best riders in the world. We still have to grow, we are at the beginning of the season, and the top positions are within our reach. Now we are preparing for the race in Arco di Trento."
