Arco di Trento (TN), 16 April 2023
At the end of the GP of Trentino, Cas Valk is third in the overall standings of the EMX250, and Elias Escandell is second in the EMX125. Good performance of the 125 riders, with two-second places for Werner and Escandell.
Arco di Trento hosted the fourth round of the Motocross World Championship, the second in Italy after the GP of Sardinia. Still suffering from a sore shoulder, Tom Guyon did not participate in this weekend's races. So, the Fantic Racing team riders engaged were Cas Valk and Alexis Fuerim in the EMX250 and Maximilian Werner and Elias Escandell in the EMX125.
EMX125
In Saturday's qualifying session, the Fantic Racing riders performed well, riding their XX 125s: in group 1, Max Werner closes with the fifth time, while the very young Niccolò Mannini, at his second appearance, with the 12th. In group 2, Escandell recorded the second fastest time, just 4/1000 from the first.
Werner and Mannini got a good start in the first race: the German took second, and the Italian climbed to seventh. Escandell, on the other hand, remained in the group, finishing fifth. Continuing his error-free run, Werner took home an excellent second place, and Escandell maintained his position until the chequered flag. At the same time, Mannini left the pace to his more experienced rivals and finished 13th.
In race2, the Fantic XX 125s change skin, presenting a black/yellow fluo livery.
Escandell intended to improve on race 1 and proved it by taking the hole shot. The Spaniard held the lead for a few laps, but a small indecision cost him the first position. Until the end, however, the No. 6 of the Fantic Racing MX team manages to control by finishing second, at 9 seconds from the winner.
Werner also started well behind his team-mate, demonstrating an excellent feeling riding the XX 125 and closing his GP of Trentino in fourth place with a race without smears.
A sixteenth place for Mannini.
At the end of the Trentino weekend, there were two Fantic XX 125s on the podium: Maximilian Werner in second place and Elias Escandell in third. With his first European points, Mannini is in the fourteenth position.
After the GP in Arco, the Spaniard climbs to second place in the EMX125 standings.
EMX250
The EMX250 qualifying session opened with positive signs: Cas Valk showed good speed even on terrain not congenial to him and scored the third fastest time, while team-mate Alexis Fueri the sixth.
Marco Maddii's two riders at the start of race 1 remained trapped in the group, and in the first laps, they could not find the right place to get close to the top positions. In the end, Fueri brought home seventh place, followed by Valk.
Race 2 instead started well for Fueri, who arrived in the fourth position. A crash, however, dropped him to the back of the field, compromising his race. In the end, the Frenchman finished fourteenth.
Even for Valk, the start on his Fantic XX 250 was good, and he fought with the best in the category for most of the race. The Dutchman tried hard to gain further positions and eventually finished sixth.
Valk and Fueri closed the GP of Trentino in seventh and eleventh position, respectively. Today’s results showed that Dutchman No. 172 of the Fantic Racing MX team climbed to third place in the overall EMX250 standings.
Marco Maddii: "A positive weekend for the whole team! Escandell, with two excellent results, is now second in the championship. We are very happy with the double podium in the 125 at our home track. In 250, we take the positive things with Valk's third place in the overall standings. We know we have work to do. There are still many races to do well."
