Perfect weekend for the Dutch rider of the Fantic Racing MX team: winning race 1 with high temperatures and race 2 on a muddy track after the night's rain, he is the new EMX2T European Champion.
The only round of the EMX2T, European Championship for 2-stroke motorcycles, took place at the track in Loket, Czech Republic. Team Fantic Racing MX came to this important event with Cas Valk, riding the Fantic XX 250.
The high temperatures challenged bikes and riders, who were divided into two groups since a large number of participants.
In the qualifying, Cas Valk immediately found the right feeling with the track of Loket despite the hard pack ground that features this old-style circuit is not ideal for him. The rider set the best time in his group and was the author of the best performance, which allowed him to be the first to line up at the starting gate.
The start of Race1 was not one of the best for Valk, third after the first corner, but Cas studied his rivals' strategies in the first laps to overtake them later and opened a solid gap over them. Despite heat affecting his performance, the 18-year-old Dutch rider won the race.
As the paddock woke up on Sunday, the weather was opposite to Saturday's. Heavy rain that fell overnight affected the track, which was slippery and challenging.
In the second race, Cas Valk was perfect at the start, where he pulled away to take first place. Thanks to a solid race pace, the Fantic Racing MX rider opened a solid gap over rivals and won the flawless race.
Cas Valk is the 2023 EMX2T European Champion, thanks to the two storming victories.
Marco Maddii: "Perfect weekend for Cas. He kept the lead starting from the free practices, and although the track conditions did not allow him to take the hole shot, he opened a great margin over rivals and ruled the race. Since the track conditions, it was easy to make mistakes, but Valk was perfect, so he deserved the European Title. We're very happy and pleased with the result".
