MX PRESTIGE ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP Round2 – Maggiora – 22/23.04.2023

Alexis Fueri reached the second step of the podium and is the current MX2 red plate holder. Excellent performance for Lynn Valk, third overall.

The second round of the Prestige Italian Championship took place at the historical track of Maggiora. The rain that fell the days before the race helped the ground settle perfectly for the great day. The Fantic Racing MX Team was represented by Cas Valk and Alexis Fueri in the MX2 and by Lynn Valk in the women's championship.

The two riders, and their Fantic XX 250 machineries, were the protagonists of the MX2 time practice. Cas Valk set the fifth best time of the first group, while Alexis Fueri classified sixth in the second group.

Fueri pulled away at the start of the first moto and was second after the first corner. The rider kept the position for 12 laps but had to let it go in the final part and eventually classified third. After the start, Cas Valk moved to fourth place and kept it till the end thanks to a solid race without mistakes.

In the second heat Alexis repeated the perfect start of the previous moto and took the lead of the race. Fueri led the moto for almost half of it but had to leave his position almost at the end of the race when he qualified with an excellent second place. Cas Valk was fourth one more time.

Alexis Fueri reached the second step of the podium and thanks to it he took the lead in the MX Italian Championship standings, followed by Cas Valk in second position.

In the time practice of the Women Italian Championship Lynn Valk set the third best time despite the feeling with the track was not excellent.

Lynn’s start in the first moto was solid and the rider kept her third place after the first corner until a rival overcame her after a couple of laps. An excellent race pace allowed her to make up ground and take back the third position, which she kept till the end of the race.

In the second heat Lynn did not have the chance to pull away after the start and lost one spot. Valk worked her way up and thanks to a steady pace she was able to get her third position back.

Lynn Valk finished third overall at the end of the day.

Marco Maddii: “It’s been a very positive weekend for our team which took part not only in the Italian Championship, but also in the Dutch one with Werner and in the Spanish one with Escandell. Werner qualified third overall and Escandell won the race. Fueri was phenomenal today and thanks to today’s results he’s back at the top of the Championship standings while Valk is second. It was very demanding for the team but we’re all very happy with the results we achieved and after this, we’re ready for the next round of the European Championship which is scheduled in Portugal”.
