Nicholas Lapucci second overall at the GP of Garda

EMX250 – EMX125 European Championship Round 8 – Garda – 30.10.2021

Arco di Trento hosted the third appointment scheduled to take place at the Italian track, this time for the GP of Garda. The Fantic Factory Team Maddii riders struggled on the hard pack ground, which was milled and heavily wetted for the occasion.

Nicholas Lapucci had to do his best to set the fastest time of his group and be second overall in the qualifying session of the European Championship. Federico Tuani’s achievement was good also as he was 13th in group 1. Max Spies was eighth.

Nicholas pulled away at the start of the first heat and took the lead. Unfortunately, Lapucci made a little mistake in the first lap and lost several positions, but the tough Tuscan rider was also the author of a stunning recovery which awarded him with the third place. Great performance for Spies, who was 14th, while Tuani classified 25th due to a few mistakes.

Lapucci’s performance was flawless also in the second moto, where he took the lead of the race even though he could not open a big margin over rivals. Even if the track conditions were not suitable for Nicholas’ strategy, Marco Maddii’s rider decided to increase his race pace and avoid mistakes and ended up with a solid third position. Tuani faced a rough start, in fact rivals pushed him off track and had to start from the back eventually classifying 25th. Max Spies’s performance was good once again as he finished 14th.

Nicholas Lapucci was second overall at the end of the day and is still holding the leadership of the Championship tightly.

In the 125 European Championship, Alexis Fueri was the author of a solid performance also this time, thanks to a fast race pace that featured this third appointment hosted at “Il Ciclamino” track.

In the qualifying session the young French rider set the sixth fastest time of his group, so he could start from a good position of the starting grid.

Alexis’ start of race1 was very promising and after staying at the front he took the checkered flag with an excellent fifth place.

The second moto went well again. Alexis’ start was so good that he could make up ground and after battling it out with rivals he classified with the sixth position.

Alexis Fueri conquered his best performance of this racing season thanks to the fifth place overall.

Marco Maddii commented on the race: “Today was hard. We have lost a few points in the Championship standings, but we still have a good margin. With just two races to go the stress levels are increasing, but we’ve to stay calm and avoid mistakes. Nicholas’ performance was solid even if he’s not 100% fit after the injuries he sustained. He likes the track of Mantova. This week we’ll recover and collect our thoughts to sort things out and be ready for the next race”.
