MXGP Round 13 EMX2T European Championship – Czech Republic – 16-17.07.2022
The Motocross World Championship is back after a short break that followed the Indonesian GP. The 13th appointment marked in the seasonal calendar was disputed at the track of Loket, in Czech Republic. The weekend hosted the MXGP as well as the EMX2T and for the occasion, the Fantic Factory Team Maddii lined up Hakon Osterhagen.
Nicholas Lapucci crashed violently in the MXGP practice and consequently was diagnosed with a facial injury and a broken nasal septum. After the first clinical assessment no other injuries were reported but Nicholas decided to head back to Italy for further examination.
Hakon Osterhagen enjoyed the challenging track of Loket and was the fastest rider in the free practice. Hakon also took the pole position in the time practice.
The strong Norwegian rider pulled away at the start of Race1 and took the hole shot. Hakon’s rhythm was phenomenal and opened a gap leaving rivals behind. Unfortunately, Osterhagen faced a technical issue during the sixth lap, as the gas pipe was pulled out from the engine. After fixing it, Hakon started again from the back of the pack and worked his way up incredibly till the sixth place.
In Race2 Hakon’s performance was absolutely perfect. He was the author of an exceptional start and took the lead after the first corner. Osterhagen’s race pace was astonishing and his riding style impeccable. This allowed him to leave his rivals far behind and win the race.
Hakon Osterhagen took the second position in the EMX2T European Championship.
Marco Maddii: “It was an unlucky weekend for the team. Nicholas injured himself in the free practice and this affected the situation, since he was in great shape. After the due examinations we’ll try to figure out when he’ll be able to get back. Hakon had a problem in the first moto, when he probably hit the gas pipe with the boot. In Race2 he showed his talent and took the victory, classifying second overall. We’re very happy with Hakon’s performance and we’re sure he could have won”.
